These are the upgrades to the truck and to the camper on this build. The camper is a nuCamp Cirrus 920 truck camper, carried on the F-550's sub-frame and bed. We live in it full-time, so anything that wears out or fails under daily rough-road use gets upgraded — and each upgrade gets its own page with the reasoning, the analysis and the files to make your own.
| Upgrade | Part | What it does | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tie-Down Brackets | Camper | 316 stainless replacements for the four camper tie-down brackets. Drop-in on the factory studs, FEA-checked to the FastGun's 2,500 lbf rating. | 🟡 Rev A ordered 22 Sep 2026 |
| 150A DC-DC Charging | Camper | Three Victron Orion XS DC-DC chargers pull 150 A from the truck alternator into the house bank while driving — about 1.8 kWh per hour of driving, with the wiring topology, sizing math and acceptance tests. | ✅ Installed |
| DC-DC Charger Cooling | Camper | Printed fan shrouds on the three Orion XS chargers, switched by a Shelly from the Cerbo GX so they blow only while a charger is working. | 🟡 In design |
| Lifting Points | Truck | Clearly defined, marked jacking and lift points for the loaded truck with the sub-frame, bed and camper on. | 🔍 In evaluation |
| Rear Recovery Point | Truck | A rated rear recovery point / hitch receiver — the truck has none today. | 🔍 In evaluation |
| Spare Tire Carrier | Truck | Carrying and handling the 335/80R20 super-single spare. | 🔍 In evaluation |
| Onboard Air | Truck | An air source to feed the sub-frame air outlets — tire inflation after airing down. | 🔍 In evaluation |
Side Boxes
The two side boxes of the bed. Stage one is the driver-side door — a flush pivot door that goes together like a kit.
